If you’re a pole dancer, you know that there are lots of factors that can alter a very specific grip needed for pole dance on a metal pole. If you are cursed with dry skin (like me!) here are some tips to making pole grip easier in the winter…
- Stay hydrated!
- Moisturise directly after a warm shower/hot bath
- Try Pole Physics (moisturiser specifically for pole!)
- Try Aloe Vera (this was a tip given to me when I was pregnant and my skin was even dryer!)
- Make sure you do a thorough warm up
- Make sure your warm up is grip specific (you need to warm up your skin directly on the pole too!)
- Try not to take too many showers per day – this will dry out your skin even more
- Try warming up in grippy leggings – the heat you can generate in them is amazing!
- Try warming up in a back warmer (warming up from the core first is an excellent way to heat the whole body!
- Try pole body sprays (these don’t work for me but they do for a lot of pole dancers!)
- Avoid fan heaters (hello even more dry skin!)
- Dance to warm up!
- Stay warm in between tricks
- Try using a chrome or powder coated pole over a stainless pole in the winter
Good luck! I hope this helps!
