Just over two years ago, Bendy Kate asked if I was interested in becoming an instructor at the studio. At this time I had made the choice to leave my career as a school teacher and was starting a new journey as a self employed tutor. I’d pondered instructing before but never thought I’d be able to make it work. Bendy’s offer filled me with a new found confidence, so I decided to do my instructor training, which ended up being one of the best choices I’ve ever made.

I get to work in a beautiful space
I’ve been poling for over a decade now and have trained in many studios around the UK and abroad but I’ve never been to one as beautiful as the Bendy Studio. To be able to teach in such a beautiful space makes me feel very lucky. All the little details, like the phone stands, show how much thought has gone into this space and I know the next studio will be even more special.
I feel valued
I feel truly valued and appreciated working at the Bendy Studio. All the staff and instructors are lovely and my students always give it their all and thank me for my class. It’s a very special feeling that I haven’t always experienced at work.
Inspiration is on tap
I’m constantly inspired by all the incredible instructors and students at the studio. There is so much talent, and such a wide range of styles, that I don’t need to look very far when I’m in need of some inspiration.
I am supported
I’ve always felt supported at the Bendy Studio. If I need advice, there’s always someone I can turn to, either another instructor, Ruth or Rach in the office or the head honcho herself (Bendy Kate). I feel especially supported recently in my choice to continue teaching whilst pregnant. Everyone was overjoyed for me. Bendy was happy for me to teach for as long as I felt comfortable but also let me know that she was there to cover for me if I was too tired or uncomfortable on a particular day, as did other instructors. My students were happy to continue learning from me and accepted when I needed to make adaptations to protect myself. I felt very emotional when I made the choice to go on maternity leave and say goodbye to the best place I’ve ever worked…but I’ll be back.
The community!!
The community at this studio is something special. When you enter the Bendy Studio you are instantly welcomed into the community. The instructors are always professional but easy going and the students are full of positivity and passion. Whether I’m the instructor or a student, everyone cheers each other on. There’s a genuine desire to see each other succeed.
